10 Steps Toward Spiritual Growth

Spirituality is a belief system in which a person seeks to relate to the rest of existence (whether that is God, humanity, the universe, nature or life itself). It is a pursuit of peace, love and understanding. Many people want you to believe that the secret to spiritual growth and development can be found in a book, a lecture or some other product that will magically unlock the doors to happiness. But the truth about spiritual growth is that it comes from within. It is all about you and the way that you view the world. Here are 10 steps to help you on your journey of personal spiritual growth, and none of them cost a thing.

1. Want Change
It may sounds silly, but the first and most important step toward personal spiritual growth is the desire to grow. All of the self-help classes, spiritual gurus and inspirational books in the world won’t make a lick of difference until you make a conscious decision to change. Spiritual growth and development is not a goal; it is a lifelong journey that requires time, energy and dedication. If you are looking for a quick fix or overnight results, you will be disappointed. When the novelty of your new spiritual growth technique wears off, you may be tempted to give up. It is much easier to let life carry you along as it pleases. The only difference between people who exist and people who really live is motivation. If you are properly motivated, keep reading.
2. Start Small
There are many spiritual practices out there, and information is readily available over the Internet. But don’t make the mistake of trying to take on too much too soon. It is best to start with one new practice. Begin a meditation, prayer routine or yoga class at your gym. Attend a lecture on reiki at your local community college. Once you are comfortable with your new skill, add another element.

3. New Adventures
One of the great joys in life lies in learning new skills. If you never tried anything new, your life would grow stagnant. Take up an activity that you are curious or passionate about, such as writing poetry, practicing yoga or painting water colors. Enjoy the process of learning and improving your new skills. By embracing people and things that are outside of your ordinary routine, you open yourself to personal and spiritual growth, and you diminish your fear of the unknown.

4. Release the Past
The past is history, and there is nothing you can do to change it. Holding on to past events keeps you from experiencing new ones, and the emotional baggage will only weigh you down. Accept these past events, both good and bad, as learning experiences and move on with life.
5. Take Responsibility
Sometimes you cannot control the events that happen to you or the people who do them. But you always have control over how you respond. Focusing your attention on what or who caused a problem does not offer any solutions. Instead, concentrate on your response and what you can do to improve the situation and prevent it from occurring again.

6. Pause and Reflect
Life moves so fast that sometimes it is important to stop, take a step back and really examine yourself and what you are doing. You can do this by practicing meditation. Meditation allows you to quiet your mind and clear your thoughts. Through meditation, you can step outside yourself and observe your life. Are you using your time wisely? Are you taking proactive steps to reach your goals? Are you happy? These quiet moments of reflection, when performed regularly, can help you right yourself on your spiritual path.

7. Stay Open
From a young age we are taught to judge and label actions, thoughts, words and people as “good,” “bad,” “right” or “wrong.” Whether we realize it or not, we are constantly judging others by how they look, what they say and more. But to feel connected to everything around you, first accept people and things as they are. It takes a conscious effort to stop looking through the lens of a critical eye, but if by looking for the possibilities and potential resources in life, you begin to grow spiritually.
Consider the difference between these two life philosophies: “Everyone is out to get me” and “Everyone is doing the best they can.” Imagine how much more stressful the first person’s life must be? Allow others to be themselves around you. Treat their uniqueness with respect rather than criticism. Remember, love is the heart of spirituality.

8. Appreciate the Present
It is easy to get caught up in a materialistic mindset and focus on wants, needs and desires. When you begin pursuing possessions, you lose sight of what you already have. The world becomes an obstacle, standing between you and what you desire. Increase your personal spiritual growth by developing what you already have. When you do this, the world becomes an ally in helping you achieve your goal.

9. Accept Unhappiness
We all know someone who seems perpetually happy. She is always smiling, and her can-do attitude never fails. You might envy this person or even resent her. You might think, She’s so lucky. I wish I could be that happy. In reality, happiness is not a personality trait. It is not a gene that some people are born with and others aren’t. Happiness is a choice. And unhappiness is a natural part of life.
Everyone has their good days and bad days. It is how you deal with those bad days when they come along that matter. You are quick to treat your physical ailments, so don’t hesitate to treat your emotional and spiritual ailments (such as depression, insecurity, fear, mood swings and bad tempers). Use meditation, yoga, prayer or relaxation techniques to soothe your soul when you find yourself unhappy.

10. Don’t Fear Mistakes
Mistakes and bad decisions are some of our greatest teachers. If you never did anything wrong, you would never learn anything new. Think of mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow, and give yourself full license to make them. We are all imperfect people. If you are able to embrace your imperfections and laugh at yourself, you will become more flexible and open-minded. Remember: We live in an imperfect world so that we can better understand perfection.

Have patience on your quest for spiritual growth. The process toward enlightenment is slow and unnoticeable at first, and you may feel compelled to give up. Just keep in mind that spiritual growth is a lifelong commitment to love, peace and understanding, and it is meant to be taken one day at a time. Like so many other things in life, spirituality is about the journey, not the destination. To quote the Buddha, “There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.”

Do You Know The Dark Side Of Your Personality?
We all know those people who have to be the center of attention. Or maybe you have that friend or family member who is always suffering from the newest ailment. Take this quiz and learn about personality disorders, but keep in mind that we all exhibit characteristics like these once in awhile. Could you fall into one of the three personality disorder categories?

Tips On How To Get Paid To Take Surveys

You can make money with paid surveys, however you should avoid survey sites that charge a fee to get started. There are many ways to make money on the internet and by far one of the easiest is by filling out survey questionnaires. Rather than using focus groups as in days past, major corporations are turning to the opinions of everyday people and the internet is the most convenient medium.

How much money can you expect to make doing online surveys? The answer to that question relies in part to how much time are you willing to invest into this little money maker. Are you willing to put in 1, 2, 10 or 20 hours a week? Maybe you'ld like to make it a full time job? It really all depends on how much time you put into it. You could earn anywhere from $10 an hour to $200 an hour depending on your effort.

Some survey sites don't have enough corporations that they're working with to keep a steady flow of fresh surveys coming to you. Others, have so much work that they pay a sign up bonus just for your joining. NEVER pay money to join a paid survey site. There is no reason for it. Sites that charge membership charges only exist to take your money and then simply give you a list of free sites that you could have joined anyway.

Give free paid survey sites a chance and you'll start making money right away, without having to spend a dime to get started. You've already got an internet connection, right? That's all you need to get started.

Eclipse Alert: What It Means for Virgo

By the Saturn Sisters, Lifescript Astrology ExpertsPublished July 28,

The July 22 solar eclipse will rock your astrological world long after it’s over. Find out how it’s affecting Virgo…

There’s no going back now.

The longest solar eclipse of the century falls at the most potent position of Cancer, the 29th, or “anaretic” degree, which means it’ll stir up everything – from the inside out.

Some signs may experience deep loss that must be faced to move on to the next level. Others may break out of a loveless groove or welcome introspection and renewal.

Here’s how this eclipse will affect Virgo (for the next six months):

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
A powerful transformation is afoot in your friendships and associations. As a Virgo, you’ve always been cool with being a bit of loner. The scars of high school still linger, whether you were the most popular or the least. The solar eclipse will obliterate old wounds and force you to stop worrying about issues that don’t befit your stature.

It’s time to let go of all the worrying about being perfect – the wrinkles in your clothes, wondering if your makeup is flawless, stressing over a presentation. During the next six months (and the years beyond) you’ll realize that your creativity has been viciously blocked by anxiety about being accepted. Once you let go of that angst, your fondest aspirations will come true.

The 11th house – the location of the eclipse in your chart – also rules goals. So stop being such a team player and wish on your lucky stars, Virgo. It’s all about you now, not about pleasing others.

Fitness for Kids & Teens Turn It Off: Limiting Screen Time

Screen time is not just TV, it includes watching DVDs, playing video games or surfing the Internet. All that time in front of a screen crowds out time for regular physical activity—and experts say that children should get at least 60 minutes of activity or more every day. That means there has to be a balance between Screen Time and activity. Plus, sitting in front of a screen can also encourage snacking on unhealthy foods. So by turning off the screen, you can help crank up your kids’ energy, re-charge their minds and improve their health.

Fortunately, there are so many things to do that don’t use a screen. Even if your child wants to relax, he or she can read a book, doodle or just take a nap (They need those 9 hours of sleep, remember?).

Check Yourself: Know how much Screen Time you and your children are getting, and then set limits for the entire family. You’ll be amazed how much extra time you “find” when you turn off the TV or computer.
Play It Down: Using Screen Time to reward or punish a child makes it seem more important than it is. Use praise, encouragement and recognition for physical activity, and make Screen Time a “non-event” in your home.
Watch at Once: If you have a VCR or DVR, you can choose a few of your kids’ favorite shows, record them, and then let them watch them all at once. That way, you’ll have more time during the rest of the week for activities.
Double Time: When watching TV at home, do jumping jacks, pushups, or crunches during commercial breaks. Set up a stationary bike in the TV room, and encourage kids to move through their favorite shows.
After-School Action Plan: Many kids list watching TV as their #1 after-school activity. Sometimes, they just need help coming up with other things to do. Have your kids make a “Top 10 List” of after-school activities. Just a few examples include riding bikes, shooting hoops, walking the dog, folding laundry or even helping with dinner. Post the list on the fridge, so your kids can check it when they get home.
No TV Dinners: Turn off the TV during mealtime— and take turns talking about the day.
Cut the Cord: Take the TVs and computers out of your kids’ bedrooms. Children who have TVs in their rooms spend almost 1–½ hours more each day watching them than their peers. Plus, if your kids are in their rooms watching TV, they’re removed from family time.
Work It Out: Use the TV to watch a video— whether it’s dancing, tae kwon do or yoga. Put on your sweatbands and have some family fitness time.

Kids Healthy Eating at Home Fruits and Vegetables in Your Kids’ Diet

Healthy Eating at Home

Healthy, well-nourished kids are better prepared mentally and physically to take on the day. Good nutrition begins at home, so talk to your child about making healthy food and beverage choices and model those healthy behaviors yourself. Also look for creative and inexpensive ways to celebrate with your kids (e.g., special time together, family outings, purchase of a book or interactive toy) rather than using food as a reward

Tips to Boost Fruits and Vegetables in Your Kids’ Diet

Why? Fruits and vegetables add vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, fiber and more to your child's diet. In fact, fruits and vegetables are the best source for many of these important vitamins and nutrients.

How? Most kids need about 2 to 4 cups fruits and vegetables every day. At every meal, include some kind of fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables. Just be sure to watch out for those with fatty sauces or added sugar. It's not always easy for kids to understand the value of fruits and vegetables -- or to appreciate their flavor. But if you can make it fun to explore, prepare and eat them, your children can discover their favorites -- and maybe even convince you to try something new.

Planning and Playing
Have a Contest: Host a cooking contest for your children, with the special ingredients being fruits or vegetables. Include a variety of healthy choices. Everyone can take turns judging the most creative and healthiest recipes.

Challenge Yourself: See how many different kinds of fruits and vegetables each member of your family can try. The person who samples the most in a week or a month wins a meal featuring his or her favorites.

Keep it Colorful: Challenge your younger children to try fruits and vegetables of different colors. Make it a red/green/orange day (apple, lettuce, carrot). You and your kids can also pick one color and see how many fruits and veggies of that color you can find.

Try Them All: Don't know where to start? Why not try every fruit or vegetable you or your kids can think of? Use this alphabetical list—and see how many different foods you can try!

Fruits: Apples, Apricots, Avocados, Bananas, Blackberries, Blueberries, Cherries, Cranberries, Figs, Grapefruit, Grapes, Kiwifruit, Lemons, Limes, Melons (Cantaloupe, Casaba, Crenshaw, Honey Ball, Honey Dew or Persian), Pineapple, Nectarines, Oranges, Passion Fruit, Peaches, Pears, Pineapples, Plums and Prunes, Raspberries, Strawberries, Tangerines, Tomatoes, Watermelon

Vegetables: Alfalfa Sprouts, Asparagus, Arugula, Artichoke, Peas, Bamboo Shoots, Beets, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Celeriac, Chard, Chicory (Endives), Cauliflower, Collards, Corn, Cucumbers, Eggplants, Kale, Lettuce (Iceberg Lettuce, Butter-head Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce, Leaf Lettuce), Mushrooms, Mustard Greens, Okra, Onions, Leeks, Parsnips, Peppers (green, red, and yellow), Potatoes, Radishes, Rhubarb, Rutabagas, Spinach, Squash (Acorn, Butternut, Spaghetti), Sweet Corn, Sweet Potatoes, Turnips, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini

Shopping
Spy Games: Play “I Spy” in your store’s Produce section.

Pick a Peck: When shopping, let kids select a new fruit or vegetable (Or several!) to try.

Creating
Saucy Idea: Make applesauce from fresh apples. Let your kids stir, and add some cinnamon.

Dip In: Chop raw vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Try bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower or celery, and dip your favorites into low-fat or fat-free dressing. Be sure to read the labels and make sure the dressings aren’t loaded with saturated fat and salt.

Chill with Some Fruit: Put 100% fruit juice in an ice tray and freeze it overnight. Use toothpicks as “handles.” Kids can eat the fruit cubes as “mini-popsicles,” or even put them in other juices! Frozen seedless grapes make natural mini-popsicles and are a great summer treat.

Mix Them Up: Add fruits and vegetables to foods that are cooked or baked. Toss vegetables into pasta sauce, lasagna, casseroles, soups, and omelets. Mix fresh or frozen berries into pancakes, waffles or muffins.

Smooth Move: Smoothies are a great way to get more fruit—and they’re really easy to make! A basic smoothie is just frozen fruit, lowfat (1%) or fat-free milk (and/or some yogurt), and 100% fruit juice. Throw it in a blender (Parents only, of course), and blend until it’s… you guessed it… smooth. Experiment with different fruits to find your kids’ favorites.

Veggie Roast: Try roasting vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, onions, carrots, tomatoes, or eggplant in the oven. Long exposure to the high heat will cause the vegetables to caramelize—which makes them less bitter and plays up their natural sweetness.

Top That: Add fruits and vegetables to foods your kids already love. Try frozen peas in mac ’n’ cheese, veggies on pizza, and sliced fruit on breakfast cereals or low-fat ice cream.

Cooking
Clean the Greens: Let kids wash fruits and vegetables before cooking or eating.

Make it Snappy: Children can snap the stems off green beans, snap open pea pods, or snap the stalks from broccoli or cauliflower.

Tear it Up: Have your kids tear lettuce for salads or sandwiches.

Slice, Dice and Peel: Older children can peel and slice carrots, cucumbers, potatoes…the list goes on!

Measure Up: Let kids measure frozen vegetables for cooking.

A Dash of Fun: Show your kids how to sprinkle herbs or other seasonings onto vegetables.

Monster Mash: Pull out the potato masher, and let the kids get after it!

Eating
Salad Sandwich: Encourage kids to order lettuce, tomatoes, onions or other veggies on their sandwiches.

Smart Swaps: Skip the fries and onion rings at restaurants, and order your kids a side salad or baked potato (with minimal toppings) instead. A large order of fries can have at least 500 calories!

Peaceful Places

Peaceful Places

Creating sacred, personal spaces to go escape within and pray or reflect upon life can be as simple or intricate as you’d like to make it. The wonderful thing is about creating spirited places for yourself is that such space can be made at home, at the office or anywhere out in the wide world that you choose...

Stress and anxiety seem to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind these days. There is always something that needs to be done or that could be done better. Demands on us to always be “On” can be draining, to say the least. Thus, the need for sacred spaces and personal “Time-Outs” to help find happiness is in higher demand than ever. When the need arises for you to take or make some sacred space, it is possible to go there physically, emotionally or spiritually. Enjoy these suggestions to help you create sacred space for yourself in needed moments:

Headspace: When I am at the office, the greatest tool I have for personal enhancement is my set of headphones. If I need to create inner peace and am unable to leave my desk, I put them on with or without sound. Web radio stations have all kinds of material available – from ambient music to church services and more. Try this option at the office, the next time you feel the need for some serenity.
Find Your Spot: Remember that special secret spot you used to go to as a child? It was somewhere that you could let your imagination run free. Just because you're a grown-up doesn’t mean that the need for that spot isn’t still there. Perhaps installing a bench in your garden that you visit each morning or evening, or a certain spot you stop at on your daily walk – all of these are scared places to help you find inner peace. For me, when I groom my horse and turn him out for exercise, it’s my playtime as well. At work, there is a complex across the street where I go and sit in the afternoon to have tea. A friend of mine finds happiness by climbing to the rooftop of her building on her afternoon break and looks out over the city where she lives. Find a spot to visit at least once a day.

Prayer Place: While the preferred place for people to pray or meditate may be in a church, temple, mosque or other place of worship, you can create a personal prayer space just about anywhere you feel the need. In the corner of my living room, I have a place to sit in the lotus position and practice meditating techniques, with a bookshelf for spiritual literature as well as inspirational sayings and pictures. Another idea is to create a spiritual “bag” that contains a shawl or pillow, some small spiritual books, candles and pictures that you can take with you on a hike, picnic or trip. A friend has a special “prayer kit” that contains a small Bible, rosary beads, a white candle and small pictures of Jesus, The Virgin Mary and the Saints, and is contained in a shaving kit bag. She only uses this for traveling.

These are just some examples of small ways in which you can nurture your spiritual, emotional and physical lives on a daily basis. If you take the time, even if it’s just ten minutes twice a day, to find and enjoy your sacred spaces, you will reap the infinite benefits of balance and heightened spirituality.

Nurturing The Inner Self

Nurturing The Inner Self
By Deb Dorchak
When most of us hear the term inner self, thoughts of self-help books, spirituality or psychology come to mind. The inner self is about the subconscious or Higher Self within each of us, also known as or our true self. When we look in the mirror and say, “I want to get to know the real me” we are talking about our inner self. Healing the inner self is learning how to be happy and comfortable in your own skin. It is a process of regaining harmony of mind, body and spirit.

Our minds are a powerful tool, so powerful in fact that we sometimes create our own problems. The stress we feel because of our problems eventually begins to affect our bodies and the way we function. This in turn leads to feelings of demoralization and sunken spirits. Remember where the problems originated though and you will be able to trace many of your present illnesses back to your own mind. Some people feel it is possible to think yourself sick. Can you imagine what would happen if you reversed that negative thinking in a more positive direction? When you begin the process of nurturing the inner self, you begin to change your outlook on life and improve your overall situation.

Some people refer to the power of positive thinking as faith healing. We have all heard of people who overcame the odds and defeated a life-threatening disease, owing it all to a positive attitude and a will to survive.
A great example of this is Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with cancer but decided he would accomplish the one thing he had always wanted to do: win the Tour de France. Lance overcame the odds and won the Tour de France seven consecutive times. He could have given up at any time, but instead he persisted and did what made him happy. Cycling lifted his spirits, kept his mind occupied and helped his body recover.

It is easy to be caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As we focus on taking care of our families, working hard in our careers and trying to stay one step ahead of the bill collectors, we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. We may not even notice the level of neglect until it is too late and we become burnt out.

It is important to recognize when you have crossed the line of working hard to feeling burnt out. Before this happens, it is a good idea to nurture you inner self. One good way to do this is to make time each day to do an activity you used to enjoy but no longer have time for. Perhaps you used to read every night before bed, went for a jog in the morning, or kept a journal in the afternoon; but once you got busy, these activities fell by the wayside. It is time to start enjoying these activities again.
Even if you start with one activity, it is better then none at all. You can always incorporate the others later. When we feel happy, our outlook on life completely changes. Our self-esteem lifts and we feel like we can conquer the world.

Having a negative outlook seems to be the easier choice for some people because it is much easier to complain and give up than to be optimistic and persist against all odds. Perhaps you will feel an immediate release of pressure, but because you have not handled the situation appropriately, it will most likely haunt you. Choosing the positive route is more difficult, but the rewards usually present themselves in life changing, long term results.

When trying to nurture your inner self, it is important to be aware of the types of people you keep in your inner circle. Take a good look at your friends and family; are any of them chronic naysayers? Are they always putting you down? Alternatively, do they support you and try to build your self-esteem?

Once you are aware of negativity, you will find that being around negative people can be draining. Whether you realize it or not, you are constantly on the defense in this crowd trying to protect yourself. Perhaps you have learned to deal with your mother’s criticizing words or your friend’s constant negativity towards others, but your inner self is cringing and feeling hopeless in their company.
It might not affect you right away, but over time, the negativity will have an affect on you.

You have to remember that your inner self is your subconscious and things that creep into the subconscious stay there, eating away at your defenses. Those seemingly harmless comments will come back to haunt you when you least expect it. Surround yourself with people who are positive and you will notice that their positive attitude will give you a boost. A simple compliment, a kind word or a nice gesture can change someone's entire day.

Imagine that you are having one of those days where the cat broke one of your glass collectibles, the electricity was turned off and you received a bill from the IRS saying you owe them $3,000. You feel like throwing in the towel, but then you begin to think of this situation as a challenge you can overcome. A friend calls with a word of encouragement and suddenly you feel invigorated. It is time to get in gear and manage.

Nurturing your inner self is easy and can be fun. Do things that make you feel good. Here is a short list of ideas to get you started.

- Get creative. Write a book, start a journal, take up painting, redesign your room or landscape your yard. Creating something gives us a deep sense of satisfaction. It does not matter if you are good at it.
What does matter is that you have fun while you are doing it. Who knows, perhaps you will find a new hobby along the way.

- Pamper yourself. Treat yourself to a massage or go splurge at the bookstore. Meet a friend for lunch at a restaurant or sit in an outdoor café and have coffee.
- Get physical. Go to the gym and have a good work out, do some gardening, take the dogs for a walk or play with your kids or pets.
- Join a club. Meeting other people and socializing feels good.
- Volunteer. Nothing feels better than knowing you are helping someone less fortunate.
- Laugh. Laughter truly is the best medicine and it is contagious, so include a friend.

The inner self reminds us to enjoy life. When we are caught up in the daily grind, we can wear ourselves out without even realizing it. Take some time to have a little fun and be proud of what you have accomplished. Your inner self will thank you.

Healthy Eating Tips

A Tangy Way to Cut Fat
To lower the fat in your favorite full-fat mayonnaise, combine it with an equal amount of fat-free plain yogurt for a reduced-fat “mayo” that adds tang to tuna, potato, and chicken salad, not to mention coleslaw.
Alternatives to Cooking with Butter
Butter can be eliminated from some recipes. When browning onions, hamburger, etc., you can spray your skillet with non-stick spray or use chicken or beef broth instead of butter. When baking, you can use reduced-calorie margarine instead of butter, but the texture will not always come out right. You've got to experiment a little. Non-fat margarines currently on the market do not bake well at all. Just remember...with baked goods, it's not always the calorie content per cookie or piece of cake, it's how many you eat! Remembering that has helped me maintain my weight better than any reduced calorie diet.

Olive Oil Uses

Use olive oil to fry scrambled eggs, omelets or fried eggs. Use instead of margarine or butter for healthier eggs!

Tips to cut the fat from your cooking
Need more healthy eating tips? Cut back on the amount of Cheddar cheese a recipe calls for, and add a bit of lower-fat Parmesan cheese for flavor. Remove the skin from chicken, it reduces the fat substantially. When possible, substitute beans for red meat in a recipe. Prepare mashed potatoes with low-fat chicken broth instead of cream and butter.

Spaghetti Squash
Looking for healthy eating tips? Spaghetti squash is great for any diet that you're on. It's also really easy to make. Cut it in half horizontally, scoop out the seeds, put saran wrap over it, then place it face down in a microwave safe dish with a little water. Microwave it for about 15 minutes. Use a fork to scrape out the "noodles." Substitute it for any noodle recipe!

Cooking ,Canning ect.Tips

Basic Tips but well used by all

Yogurt vs. Mayo
Substitute half plain yogurt for mayonnaise in dishes like tuna, chicken or egg salad

Adjust Temperature For Different Pans
The type of pan you use when baking is important. The right pan can determine the outcome of your dish. If you are substituting pans or dishes, here are some guidelines to keep in mind: Glass pan substitutes: Turn down baking temperature by 25 degrees Shallow pan substitute: Reduce overall baking time by 1/4 Deeper pan substitute: Increase overall baking time by 1/4

Beef Comes In Four Main Cuts
Beef comes in four main cuts: chuck, loin, rib and round. Packaging information generally tells the cut and the product, such as “chuck roast” or “sirloin steak” to give the consumer an idea of the best way to cook the product. Chuck and round cuts are less tender and require a moist cooking method such as braising, which is a slow moist-heat cooking method that uses a small amount of liquid such as stock or wine with a tight-fitting lid. Cook the moister loin and rib cuts by a dry heat method, such as broiling or grilling.

Choose The Right Bird For Chicken Soup
Chicken soup is a popular way to use chicken. The type of chicken used to make soup makes a difference in how it will come out. If you are buying the chicken specifically for soup, choose a kosher pullet (which is a young female chicken that is old enough to lay eggs). Kosher pullets are raised in a free-range environment and eat natural vegetation and insects. If a kosher pullet is not available, select a soup chicken, which are usually older, female birds. The meat might be tougher than a younger chicken, but it has more flavor. Cook the chicken whole first before cutting it into pieces. This process will take longer to cook, but the chicken will release more flavor into the soup.

How To Start A Blog That Makes Money

Start a blog can be very easy, you can simply create a blog in blogspot, wordpress, joomla and etc. for free. You can write whatever topics you like, you can show it to the public or even hide it as your private diary. Blog is the most secure, comfortable place for you to express your feeling and share your thoughts, blogging is not a homework that assigned by teacher, there is no time frame for it. You happy, you blog it.

Most of the people who start a blog just to write their personal rants, but some of them start a blog just to make money. I don’t mean that a personal blog can’t make money, a personal blog can really make money if you have unique character.

7 Steps To Start A Blog That Makes Money

1) Choosing Niche Topic
Before you create a blog, you have to choose a niche topic to write. You’re recommended to choose a niche topic that is popular and also your interest topic, so that you can keep writing fresh content non-stop. It’s obviously easy to choose your interest topic, but how we know whether the topic is popular? Ok, now you go to step #2.

2) Keyword Popularity
Keyword popularity means the popularity of the keyword, we have to check whether the topic is really popular and have a lot of people look for the topic. Let’s say you want to start a blog that talks about petrol, so your keyword might be “petrol”.

Google has a keyword tool that allows you to check the popularity of a keyword, it’s a very useful keyword tool before you choose a keyword and topic. By using this keyword tool, you’re able to know whether the keyword is popular or nobody looks for it. If the keyword is popular enough, then go to step #3.

3) Keyword Competition
After you check for keyword popularity, now we have to check the keyword competition. Keyword competition means the keyword is competed by a lot of people, compete the keyword means they want their blog to be appeared in the first page in Google search result with the keyword.

By using the same keyword tool, you can also see the competitor for the keyword in “Advertiser Competition” column. If the rectangular box is full green, that’s mean there are a lot of people compete this keyword.

By using the keyword tool, you’re not able to see the number of competitor, sometimes the rectangular box is full green but the numbers of competitor are low. So, now you open a Google page, type your keyword in the search bar and press enter, you can simply know the numbers of competitor. I advise you to choose a keyword that has less than 500k competitors. Now you can go to step #4.

4) Domain Names
A domain name is one of the factor that Google takes in consideration to rank your blog. Get a short and nice domain name is really hard because all nice domain names have been sold to others. So, you have to try to get a domain name that similar with your keyword. If your niche topic is petrol, then your domain name might be www.petrol.com. If it’s not available, you can simple add a “-” like www.petrol-blog.com, try until you get a nice domain name. Now, go to step #5.

5) Search Engine Optimization
I assume you’ve started and get a name for your blog, so a little search engine optimization skills must be applied to your blog. You can simply read the “SEO Checklist For Beginner” or “SEO Tips” in my category page. At least you have to learn some basic SEO tips and apply it to your blog. Search engine optimization is the key that boost your blog traffics and makes you a lot of money through blogging. Now, we go to the important step #6.

6) Unique Content
After you have set up your blog and do a little bit of basic SEO, you can now build up unique content for your blog. I would say this is the most important step that you must follow. Of course, a blog must has content, if your blog got no content then it’s not called a blog, right? Google likes fresh and unique contents, and your contents are built to help your readers too. Google likes them and definitely Google will gives you a good rank in search engine ranking, that’s mean you can get a lot of organic traffics from search engine if your blog has good rank.

Remember, some of the SEO tips in #5 are used when you creating content too, i.e. keyword optimization or basic HTML coding. Other than that, you can simply download and install a SEO plugin called “All In One SEO Pack“, it helps to improve SEO for your blog too. So, now you can go to the last step #7.

7) Monetization
Let’s say you master all the step #1 to #6, if you don’t know how to monetize your blog, you can’t also make money blogging. So, you have to learn some monetization methods and learn how to make money blogging. If you don’t know them, at least you know Google Adsense, it’s the most common monetization method for blogs and websites. Simply place an adsense ads on your blogs and start make money through your blog.

Conclusion
In this 7 steps to start a blog and make money, some of them have been covered in my previous articles, I’ve combined them and add some new tips for beginner blogger who don’t know how to start a blog that makes money. If you want to start a make money blog too, simply follow all the steps listed above and start make money blogging.

I’ve gone through all the steps above, so that I can share it with you. I don’t make a lot of money like other famous bloggers, but I do make some money through my blog too. So, what are you waiting for?

Streamline Funnel System to Make Money Online

Here is a new company that just launched. Matter of fact I was lucky to get in on the pre-launch of the company and it sounds like it’s moving fast. During pre-launch I had 20,000 people that had signed up after me.

So what is the streamline funnel system. There are still lots of questions to be answered because as I write this article they are transitioning from pre-launch to full launch but the main thing that they are doing or claim to be doing is they have developed a software system that will send your personal link with the streamline funnel system to 10,000 double optin subscribers meaning you will get credit for any sales generated.

This is an automated process! It’s backed by a 100% money back guarantee if it doesn’t work.

At a 1% conversion this would equal 100 sales and each sale will earn you $15 each so that means that off of that mailing alone you could make $1500 and this is month after month money. And then the next month you could end up doing it again.

I’m excited to see what happens with the program. Hopefully it takes off and does what it is supposed to do.

Make Money Online

Flipping sites is something you can do if you are looking for how to make money online. These sites can be either blogs or websites. There is always a buyer of these sites for two reasons, some people don’t want to waste their time designing a site and some people admire how the site you want to flip looks like.

If you want to flip a site, it is good to pick a niche. Buyers don’t want general site because it is takes more time to make money from them. Buyers want a site that is dedicated to a niche. After you have picked a niche, get your articles to be written. You can either write the article yourself or if you have money to spend, you can get a freelancer to write the article. Then get a designer to create a header for you. This would make your site to be unique or stand out from other sites in its niche. You can buy a custom theme for the site, but it is not really necessary. Upload the header, and publish the articles. Look for pictures to put in the post to make the site to look professional. You can get pictures by searching online or buying from websites that sell pictures. You can get the writer and designer from any freelancer website or in forums where people are looking for work.

After doing all that, your blog is ready to be sold at an auction site normally on forums. If you want to increase the value of your site, try to make the site to make some money. This would how any potential buyer that the site is profitable. Since the site is new, it would not be that easy to rank high on search engine (you might luck to be ranked on first page if it is a micro niche site). The best way to make money from the site is by writing an ebook and selling it. With a picture of the ebook sale transactions, this would increase the value of your site. This would show the potential buyer that he just have to market the ebook to make money from the ebook.

If you list your site for sale and it doesn’t sell the first time, SEO the site so that it can get good search engine ranking. After 1 month or more, reenlist the site for sale. Do not forget to include the traffic stats of the site.

5 Tips to improve your search engine ranking

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to the process of optimising a website to be search engine friendly. Small and large businesses are catching onto the fact that their website can hugely benefit from SEO and ranking well on the search engines

In this article ill list the top 5 beginners SEO tips you can implement very easily and will help improve your website rankings.

1. Page Title Optimisation Your page title is the text description that search engines use in the results and your web browser displays in the top of your window. The page title is very important in SEO and is one of the main factors in helping your web page rank. Your title should be an accurate description of what content is displayed on the page and should only focus on 2 or 3 main topics or key phrases.

The tag is contained in the section of an .html page. It is a stand-alone element and not really a meta tag, but it is the most important step you need to take in optimising your website, whether it's a blog or static Web page.

This tag is what Google and the other search engines index in their results to link to your website. It is the "first impression" and your only chance to make the Google user click on the result pointing to your website. This is a mirror of the quality you offer on your website.

Your page title should use keywords used in your content heading and paragraph tags. If your web page has content related to "Sydney SEO" or "SEO Central Coast" your heading and paragraph tags should also include the keywords "Sydney SEO" and "SEO Central Coast".

2. Descriptive Link Anchor Text Every website uses text links in some form or another. Google and other search engines read these links in relation to the rest of your web page content and rate them based on how relevant they are. The name given to the text used in a link is "anchor text". A big mistake people make when linking their pages together is they use anchor text like "click here" or "read more". It is much better you use descriptive keywords in your link anchor text that are related to you on page copy and the page the link points to. For example if I was linking to a page with content about Sydney SEO and Central Coast SEO I would not say "Click here for more information" or "Read more", I would say "Click here for more information on Sydney SEO" or "Read more on Central Coast SEO".

3. Have Lots, & Lots of Content Content is probably the most important factor of SEO. Basically if you have the content your website will rank irrespective of your page titles or anchor text links. The more content you can get that is related to your websites topic the better. Google and other search engines love big websites and the more content you have, the more pages the Search Engines can see and therefore the bigger you website is.

4. Source Incoming Links Another good beginners SEO tip is, find external incoming links to your websites. One of the other ways Google and other search engine rank websites is by scanning how many other websites are linking to yours and if those websites have what us search engine optimisers call "Authority". Authority websites can be other websites that rank very well with a high page rank, government websites or educational websites. The more incoming links you get from external websites and especially authority websites the higher search engines will rank you. Part of the skill in SEO is sourcing and securing authority backlinks.

5. Name Your Page File Names There's lots of scope for SEO around your page names. Google guidelines suggest that you build a brand, but nevertheless keyword rich filenames do well in search... if the SEO is done right. They should be based around the top level keywords for that page, there's no reason to give pages or files random names. If a page is based around keyword content, then the filename should contain those keywords. Using my same examples as before, if my page has content about "Sydney SEO" or "Central Coast SEO" I would probably name my page Sydney-central-coast-seo.html or something along those lines. You will notice I used dashes (-) instead of and underscore (_) to separate the words. Google reads both as a word separater but dashes are more widely used.

Stuck in a Rut? 7 Ways to Live Life to the Fullest

Stuck in a Rut? 7 Ways to Live Life to the Fullest

Are you charting a course to fulfill your dreams? Or are you wandering around without a compass, hoping you’ll somehow find your way? If you’re stuck in a rut, let our happiness experts help you get back on track. Then take our quiz to see if you’re living your life to the fullest…

1. Don’t Try to Buy Happiness
Would you be happy if you had a hundred new pairs of Jimmy Choos or a brand new BMW? Maybe at first you would, but as time went on you’d “just want more, bigger, better and different in a never-ending fashion,” explains Alan Gettis, Ph.D., author of The Happiness Solution: Finding Joy and Meaning In An Upside Down World (Trafford, 2006). The pleasure centers in your brain come alive when you score the perfect skirt or a great pair of jeans, but the feeling fades. After all, if you could really buy happiness, everyone would have bought it already!

If you still believe money is the secret to satisfaction, consider this: According to a University of Illinois study, the Forbes 400 (the wealthiest billionaires in America) and the Maasai tribes of East Africa (simple, pastoral herdsmen) exhibit the same levels of happiness, regardless of their monetary differences. In plain English: Money doesn’t buy happiness.
2. Go for Girl’s Night Out
Could seeing a movie with your pals save your life? Maybe so, when you consider that loneliness is a life-threatening condition that can raise your risk of heart disease and depression.

Connecting with friends counteracts stress and spurs the release of oxytocin, a neurotransmitter that soothes and calms. Maybe that’s part of the reason women have been gathering in groups for centuries, grinding corn, knitting quilts or weaving baskets. “Instinctively, we know it’s good for us,” says Rebecca Radcliffe, motivational speaker and author of Hot Flashes, Chocolate Sauce, & Rippled Thighs (EASE, 2004).

It helps to have a close group of friends, but it’s also important to interact with people outside that circle. Every kind of positive interaction, from smiling at the waitress to chatting with your neighbor, can boost your mood, says Radcliffe.

3. Answer the Call of the Wild
Claude Monet once said, “The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.” Take his advice and make a date with Mother Nature. It will lower your stress levels, strengthen your immune system and leave you feeling blissfully tranquil.

Can’t spare time away for a weekend camping trip? You’ll reap the same benefits from a quick stroll through the park or an afternoon spent gardening. Even a glance at a tree-lined street or blue sky through your office window will boost your mood and productivity.
4. Make the Little Things Count
So, your alarm woke you up on time for work this morning. If that thought doesn’t make you jump for joy, ask yourself what would have happened if the alarm had failed? You would have woken up late, rushed out the door, forgotten your briefcase and arrived at the office disheveled. Worse, what if you hadn’t woken up at all?

On a typical day, a million things go right, says Gettis. The shower has hot water, your favorite cereal is in the cupboard, your car starts and your computer turns on. “We’re often on auto-pilot and don’t appreciate the good things around us,” he notes.

It’s human nature to rubberneck at the accident on the freeway. But instead of seeking out the bad, focus on the good that’s right in front of you.

5. Pursue Your Passions
“Passions ignite us and keep us going,” says Gettis. But some of us are so entrenched in our daily lives that we’ve lost sight of them. Radcliffe suggests asking yourself this question: “If God came to you and told you to go after your dreams right away, what would you do first?”

Stumped? It’s time for a blast from the past. What did you love to do as a child? Which clubs did you join in high school? When did you last feel truly happy, and what were you doing at the time? The answers can help you rediscover your passions. For more ideas, make a list of things you’ve always wanted to learn, and then learn them. Dance the tango, study German, take up rock-climbing, play the guitar, write a poem…anything goes as long as you’re doing it for you.

“Giving an outlet to our creative selves satisfies a hunger that cannot be filled in any other way,” explains Radcliffe.
6. Forgive Yourself
Airlines have a limit when it comes to carry-on luggage. Pity we can’t set limits on ourselves when it comes to emotional baggage. Dwelling on past mistakes only prevents us from being happy in the present.

“Focusing on the past is a trap,” says Gettis. The key to forgiving yourself is to understand and accept your own history and to learn from your mistakes. How have they made you stronger and wiser? Use the lessons of the past to make better decisions today.

Forgiveness is an ongoing process. It can take months, even years. But in the meantime, “focus on creating a fulfilling life in the present,” suggests Gettis.

7. Live in the Moment
Cocktail hours, social events or a day off work can be great fun. But what about the rest of your life? What about the time you spend at work or running errands? If we only have isolated moments on the calendar to live for, we’re in trouble.

Most of our lives are made up of seemingly mundane moments spent pumping gas or standing in line at the grocery store. Yet we often dismiss these moments. They don’t count, we say. They’re not a part of our real lives. With this attitude, you’ll waste 80% of your life, notes Gettis. “If there’s anything resembling a magic bullet or a key to the universe, it’s the ability to be fully present…here and now,” he explains.
What’s the secret to living in the moment? This story from Gettis’ book says it all: A Zen master lay dying. One of his disciples remembered the fondness his teacher had for a certain cake and set out to find it. He returned with the delicacy for his master, who smiled appreciatively and slowly nibbled it, all the while moving closer to death. His students asked him if he had any last words and he whispered “yes.” The students drew closer, so as not to miss a single word. He said, “My, this cake is delicious!”

One super quick way to make money online

So what is the quickest way to make money online? The answer is selling information products. People cannot get enough of information. They always want to know how to do something. If you are looking for the big “secret” to make money online then here it is. Are you ready?

Solve problems. Oh yes and be persistent. I guess that’s two “secrets”. Anyone who is making money online is doing so by solving problems and staying persistent.

So there you have it. If you want to make quick money online find a problem that needs to be solved, create a product that provides a solution and start selling it. People love information products. If you market it right you can make a lot of money in a short amount of time. Find one that solves a problem and use it. Go in and make a few minor changes so it can be original. You now have a short report that is ready to sell online. Before you can sell it you need to set up a paypal account so you can accept payment if you don’t already have one. After that, go to weebly and set up a free website to promote it on.

Once you have done that you are ready to go. Price your short report between $2 and $17 depending on how long or short it is. Now start marketing it. Get the word out about your new product. Write articles, press releases, visit forums, twitter, use onlywire to bookmark your articles and press releases. Do whatever you can to get your product in front of millions of people.

The more people who visit your site the more sales you will make. Once again, the key is to be persistent. Just because you do not make sales the first week or 2 doesn’t mean you should stop. Keep at it. Eventually the sales will start rolling in.

Once you start making money consistently from your first product you can move on and create a second product. You will then have money coming in from multiple sources.

Top 50 Things To Do To Stop Global Warming

Global Warming is a dramatically urgent and serious problem. We don't need to wait for governments to find a solution for this problem: each individual can bring an important help adopting a more responsible lifestyle: starting from little, everyday things. It's the only reasonable way to save our planet, before it is too late.

Here is a list of 50 simple things that everyone can do in order to fight against and reduce the Global Warming phenomenon: some of these ideas are at no cost, some other require a little effort or investment but can help you save a lot of money, in the middle-long term!

Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)
CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
We recommend you purchase your CFL bulbs at 1000bulbs.com, they have great deals on both screw-in and plug-in light bulbs.

Install a programmable thermostat
Programmable thermostats will automatically lower the heat or air conditioning at night and raise them again in the morning. They can save you $100 a year on your energy bill.

Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer
Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner
Cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases
Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most energy efficient products available.

Do not leave appliances on standby
Use the "on/off" function on the machine itself. A TV set that's switched on for 3 hours a day (the average time Europeans spend watching TV) and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode.

Wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket
You’ll save 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple action. You can save another 550 pounds per year by setting the thermostat no higher than 50°C.

Move your fridge and freezer
Placing them next to the cooker or boiler consumes much more energy than if they were standing on their own. For example, if you put them in a hot cellar room where the room temperature is 30-35ºC, energy use is almost double and causes an extra 160kg of CO2 emissions for fridges per year and 320kg for freezers.

Defrost old fridges and freezers regularly
Even better is to replace them with newer models, which all have automatic defrost cycles and are generally up to two times more energy-efficient than their predecessors.

Don't let heat escape from your house over a long period
When airing your house, open the windows for only a few minutes. If you leave a small opening all day long, the energy needed to keep it warm inside during six cold months (10ºC or less outside temperature) would result in almost 1 ton of CO2 emissions.

Replace your old single-glazed windows with double-glazing
This requires a bit of upfront investment, but will halve the energy lost through windows and pay off in the long term. If you go for the best the market has to offer (wooden-framed double-glazed units with low-emission glass and filled with argon gas), you can even save more than 70% of the energy lost.

Get a home energy audit
Many utilities offer free home energy audits to find where your home is poorly insulated or energy inefficient. You can save up to 30% off your energy bill and 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Energy Star can help you find an energy specialist.

Cover your pots while cooking
Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70%!

Use the washing machine or dishwasher only when they are full
If you need to use it when it is half full, then use the half-load or economy setting. There is also no need to set the temperatures high. Nowadays detergents are so efficient that they get your clothes and dishes clean at low temperatures.

Take a shower instead of a bath
A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath. To maximize the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are cheap and provide the same comfort.

Use less hot water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. You can use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of carbon dioxide saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year) instead of hot.

Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible
You can save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide when you air dry your clothes for 6 months out of the year.

Insulate and weatherize your home
Properly insulating your walls and ceilings can save 25% of your home heating bill and 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Caulking and weather-stripping can save another 1,700 pounds per year. Energy Efficient has more information on how to better insulate your home.

Be sure you’re recycling at home
You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by recycling half of the waste your household generates.

Recycle your organic waste
Around 3% of the greenhouse gas emissions through the methane is released by decomposing bio-degradable waste. By recycling organic waste or composting it if you have a garden, you can help eliminate this problem! Just make sure that you compost it properly, so it decomposes with sufficient oxygen, otherwise your compost will cause methane emissions and smell foul.

Buy intelligently
One bottle of 1.5l requires less energy and produces less waste than three bottles of 0.5l. As well, buy recycled paper products: it takes less 70 to 90% less energy to make recycled paper and it prevents the loss of forests worldwide.

Choose products that come with little packaging and buy refills when you can
You will also cut down on waste production and energy use... another help against global warming.

Reuse your shopping bag
When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. Waste not only discharges CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, it can also pollute the air, groundwater and soil.

Reduce waste
Most products we buy cause greenhouse gas emissions in one or another way, e.g. during production and distribution. By taking your lunch in a reusable lunch box instead of a disposable one, you save the energy needed to produce new lunch boxes.

Plant a tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill by 10 to 15%. The Arbor Day Foundation has information on planting and provides trees you can plant with membership.

Switch to green power
In many areas, you can switch to energy generated by clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar. In some of these, you can even get refunds by government if you choose to switch to a clean energy producer, and you can also earn money by selling the energy you produce and don't use for yourself.

Buy locally grown and produced foods
The average meal in the United States travels 1,200 miles from the farm to your plate. Buying locally will save fuel and keep money in your community.

Buy fresh foods instead of frozen
Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.

Seek out and support local farmers markets
They reduce the amount of energy required to grow and transport the food to you by one fifth. Seek farmer’s markets in your area, and go for them.

Buy organic foods as much as possible
Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms. If we grew all of our corn and soybeans organically, we’d remove 580 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere!

Eat less meat
Methane is the second most significant greenhouse gas and cows are one of the greatest methane emitters. Their grassy diet and multiple stomachs cause them to produce methane, which they exhale with every breath.

Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible
Avoiding just 10 miles of driving every week would eliminate about 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year! Look for transit options in your area.

Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates
Sharing a ride with someone just 2 days a week will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by 1,590 pounds a year. eRideShare.com runs a free service connecting north american commuters and travelers.

Don't leave an empty roof rack on your car
This can increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 10% due to wind resistance and the extra weight - removing it is a better idea.

Keep your car tuned up
Regular maintenance helps improve fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. When just 1% of car owners properly maintain their cars, nearly a billion pounds of carbon dioxide are kept out of the atmosphere.

Drive carefully and do not waste fuel
You can reduce CO2 emissions by readjusting your driving style. Choose proper gears, do not abuse the gas pedal, use the engine brake instead of the pedal brake when possible and turn off your engine when your vehicle is motionless for more than one minute. By readjusting your driving style you can save money on both fuel and car mantainance.

Check your tires weekly to make sure they’re properly inflated
Proper tire inflation can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Since every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, every increase in fuel efficiency makes a difference!

When it is time for a new car, choose a more fuel efficient vehicle
You can save 3,000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year if your new car gets only 3 miles per gallon more than your current one. You can get up to 60 miles per gallon with a hybrid! You can find information on fuel efficiency on FuelEconomy and on GreenCars websites.

Try car sharing
Need a car but don’t want to buy one? Community car sharing organizations provide access to a car and your membership fee covers gas, maintenance and insurance. Many companies – such as Flexcar - offer low emission or hybrid cars too! Also, see ZipCar.

Try telecommuting from home
Telecommuting can help you drastically reduce the number of miles you drive every week. For more information, check out the Telework Coalition.

Fly less
Air travel produces large amounts of emissions so reducing how much you fly by even one or two trips a year can reduce your emissions significantly. You can also offset your air travel carbon emissions by investingin renewable energy projects.

Encourage your school or business to reduce emissions
You can extend your positive influence on global warming well beyond your home by actively encouraging other to take action.

Join the virtual march
The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort to bring people concerned about global warming together in one place. Add your voice to the hundreds of thousands of other people urging action on this issue.

Encourage the switch to renewable energy
Successfully combating global warming requires a national transition to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and biomass. These technologies are ready to be deployed more widely but there are regulatory barriers impeding them. U.S. citizens, take action to break down those barriers with Vote Solar.

Protect and conserve forest worldwide
Forests play a critical role in global warming: they store carbon. When forests are burned or cut down, their stored carbon is release into the atmosphere - deforestation now accounts for about 20% of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Conservation International has more information on saving forests from global warming.

Consider the impact of your investments
If you invest your money, you should consider the impact that your investments and savings will have on global warming. Check out SocialInvest and Ceres to can learn more about how to ensure your money is being invested in companies, products and projects that address issues related to climate change.

Make your city cool
Cities and states around the country have taken action to stop global warming by passing innovative transportation and energy saving legislation. If you're in the U.S., join the cool cities list.

Tell Congress to act
The McCain Lieberman Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act would set a firm limit on carbon dioxide emissions and then use free market incentives to lower costs, promote efficiency and spur innovation. Tell your representative to support it.

Make sure your voice is heard!
Americans must have a stronger commitment from their government in order to stop global warming and implement solutions and such a commitment won’t come without a dramatic increase in citizen lobbying for new laws with teeth. Get the facts about U.S. politicians and candidates at Project Vote Smart and The League of Conservation Voters. Make sure your voice is heard by voting!

How to Start And Make Money With Your Own ezines Or Newsletter

ezine or newsletter is the online business that you can fully automate and make money on autopilot. There are many online buinesses but publishing your own ezine or newsletter is one of the best profitable online business.Publishing your own ezine or newsletter involves only three steps!i.e.create contents on your selected topic, basic set up i.e website and autoresponder etc. and promtion

Here, step by step I explain you how you can set up your own profitable newsletter and how you can make money over again & again with it.

First, Choose the topic for your ezine or newsletter. The topic can be anything like tips for affiliate marketing etc.or any ‘how to” Information. You can start ezine about anything. Start ezine or newsletter about what you know. Here is 3 basic steps to start your own newsletter and make money with newsletter.

1) Write 5 to 6 articles based on the subject. 2) Create squeeze page 3) Plug in your content in autoresponder that’s all !! yes the starting ezine or newsletter as easy as you read these lines.

You can make money with your own ezine in many ways. But the primary purpose of any ezine or newsletter is to build list.List is an asset for any internet business owner. and havingbig list gives you advantages over to your competetors.

Now, How to build your list with your own ezine? and how to make money with your ezine? Once you set up your web site and plug in your prewriiten contents in autoresponder all you need is to PROMOTE your ezine.Yes many people forget this crutial step.

People assume that ezines publishing is autopilot business, at some extent it is true but no matter what type of business you run ; to become successful and to make money you must promote it carefully and continuously.

Once you setup your website and autoresponder with your prewritten contents, autoresponders do send all your articles tips etc to your subscribers automatically. But you need to build your subscriber base by promoting your ezine. After basic set up you need to do only thing and that is promotion. Promote it,Build list and make money again and again.

With your ezines you can make money by promoting related products or services by placing your affiliate links , you can sell advertising space in your ezine and most imporatantly you can participite in joint veture offers.

Say if you are building list with your ezine and after some months or say after one year you have list of over 10000 subscribers. Now, say you are participating in joint venture or promoting new product. You inform your subscriber with a single email about the new product you are promoting and only 1% (i.e 100 people) of people purchase the product or service you are promoting, you will make 100 X $20 = $ 2000 with a single email!!

Generally, the conversion rates are higher with your own list.It can be anywhere 3 % to 6 % If you don’t want to write contents for your ezine you can use articles from article directories as long as you don’t change the autors resource box.you can also offer report or ebook to people to make them your subscriber.

That is the power of having your own list. And to build list nothing is better than starting your own ezine. Don’t expect result fast.Make the content carefully for your newsletter and promote it for long term benefits.

Beware of Scavenger Debt Collectors

You defaulted on your credit card debt a long time ago. Your credit report indicates that the debt was written off by the credit card company a year ago. Your account was turned over to a collection agency who sent you a few form letters and called you a few times, but eventually they gave up and now you're home free. You think you got out of paying this debt, right? Don't get too comfortable just yet.

There is a new investment opportunity and it isn't real estate. It is debt collecting. Groups of investors are forming companies and purchasing old debt from original creditors for literally pennies on the dollar and are going after old, written off credit card debt with a vengeance. The industry is so lucrative that two of these investment companies have made the Fortune 500 list.

The term that has been coined for companies who purchase uncollectible, written-off debt is "scavenger debt collectors" but few of them will admit they are collection agencies. They usually call themselves litigation firms to scare the hell out of you, and they use very aggressive collection techniques that often violate the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Many of them claim that they are not bound by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, but they most certainly are.

Scavenger debt collectors buy old debt for just pennies on the dollar and try to collect the whole amount due plus interest. For example, suppose you owed Citibank exactly $1,000. Citibank wrote off the account when they couldn't collect from you, turned it over to a debt collection agency, who also couldn't collect from you. Now, Citibank has sold it to a scavenger debt collection firm for about $70.00. And the scavenger debt collector is going to come after you for the entire $1,000 plus interest. Pretty lucrative, huh?

Of course, the scavenger debt collectors know that most of what they have purchased is uncollectible -- that's why they bought it for just pennies on the dollar. But they are going to use intimidation tactics to collect as much as they can. Please do not let them scare you. Most of what they say is bluffing to get you to send them as much as you can as quickly as you can to avoid being sued.

If you are contacted by a scavenger debt collector, this is what will happen:

First of all, they will let you know that they are a "litigation firm" who is preparing the papers to sue you, but they wanted to contact you and perhaps work out some sort of settlement or pay off agreement. They will lead you to believe that if you don't pay, you will be sued in the next few weeks. But remember, they are probably not a litigation firm and the person on the phone is just a regular debt collector, but he or she will lead you to believe he is an attorney or a paralegal who works for a law firm, when in fact, they are just regular debt collectors. Do not let the "litigation firm" term scare you. Ask the person with whom you are speaking if he/she is an attorney and if the company is an actual law firm. In fact, ask a lot of questions about who it is that now owns your old debt. Chances are you will find that they are a group of investors who aren't really a litigation firm.

Secondly, the scavenger debt collector won't tell you that they purchased the debt for .07 to .10 cents or even as little as .03 cents on the dollar. They will go into a grand epic tale about how their investors purchased this debt and they must get their money back. If you tell them you don't have the money, they will try to determine how much you do have and will start telling you they will accept 80%, then 70%. The collector might tell you he has to consult with the investors and find out if he can offer you a really good deal -- 50%. He calls you back and says he was able to convince them to accept 50% as payment in full provided you can get it to them in the next five days.

The truth is that they will accept as little as 25 percent as a settlement. They will likely not accept anything less than 25 percent because they purchased your debt to make a really nice profit.

If you refuse to pay, they will turn your account over to a real attorney, who will send you a threatening letter in yet another effort to intimidate you into paying. Note that attorneys are forbidden from sending letters claiming they will sue when they won't or can't, so if you receive such a letter from a real attorney, pay attention to what it says to determine if you are really going to be sued. Does the letter say they are exploring their legal options or that papers are being prepared for suit? If it says the latter, you are probably getting sued for real since attorneys can't say it if it isn't true.

In any event, they will not actually sue you unless their asset search reveals you have assets to seize. They aren't going to spend any money suing you if you don't have anything. After all, you can't get blood out of a turnip. And don't think you can hide assets, because with today's computers and vast databases, they can find out what you have in checking accounts, savings accounts, what real estate you own, etc. You really have very little privacy anymore in terms of your finances.

What property can they seize? It depends on what state you live in. Some states, like Texas, are very debtor-friendly and creditors can't do much. But other states, such as Vermont, are creditor-friendly and they can attach your wages, levy your bank account or put a lien on your property. [Click here for state information.]

Scavenger debt collectors are notorious for purchasing really old debt -- debt so old that the statute of limitations has run. If a debt collector contacts you regarding an old debt, do not admit that you owe the debt and do not agree to make any payments. Simply tell them that the "statute of limitations has run on this debt and do not contact me again". If they continue contacting you, send them a certified letter, return receipt requested, telling them not to contact you about the debt again. Remember -- DO NOT ADMIT THAT YOU OWE THE DEBT, DO NOT AGREE TO PAY THE DEBT, AND DO NOT AGREE TO SEND ANY MONEY TO THEM. If you do, then the statute of limitations might start running all over again, giving them the legal right to sue you.

Pest and Disease RemediesTurn to your pantry and medicine cabinet for simple solutions to common garden problems

I’ve found that awareness and a quick response are two of the best allies against garden foes. By knowing my plants, as well as their pests and diseases, I can be proactive in combatting garden ailments.

When problems do arise, I turn to the most benign and natural forms of control, like hand-picking invaders, setting up barriers, or trimming problem areas off plants. If these interventions fail, I apply my easy homemade potions to treat my gardens, keeping in mind the welfare of the soil and the dwellers who share the earth with me.

Anyone walking into my potting area is liable to find four or five mixtures of fertilizer brews and oddball pest blends fermenting in tubs, along with a strange collection of tools and utensils. It is not the aftermath of some cataclysmic disaster; it is my laboratory, my living library, and the makings for a healthy garden.

On the occasion that I need to treat a plant for a pest or disease problem, I follow these simple guidelines:

• Test homemade sprays on a small portion of the plant before applying it to the entire surface. Monitor the plant’s response for a couple of days to check for burning.
•Add a few drops of liquid soap to homemade foliar sprays. It helps to emulsify, or blend together, the other ingredients. It also acts as a surfactant, or wetting agent, which will ensure uniform coverage on leaf surfaces or insect bodies (causing desiccation and death). Always use soap (never detergent) so as not to burn plants; good choices are Dr. Bronner’s, Fels Naptha, or any pure castile soap, all of which can be found in health-food stores.
•Apply sprays early in the morning and never when the temperature is above 85°F to prevent sunburned leaves.
•Wear rubber gloves when using any sprays containing peppers, alcohol, citrus concentrates, mint oils, or anything else that could irritate your skin. And when spraying outdoors in breezy conditions, wear eye and nose protection.
•Examine your plants thoroughly before apply- ing sprays to make sure that you aren’t spraying any spiders or beetles that might be your allies in the fight against pests.

Debt Consolidation Loans- Savior in Despair

Are you really worried due to the higher interest rates you have to pay to various creditors and really want to consolidate all such debts into a single one with a lower interest rate? Then these debt consolidation loans are the ones you should be searching for. Debt consolidation is a must for those people who are at the verge of bankruptcy. The lenders who provide such debt consolidation loans just consolidate all your higher interest rate debts into one having a lower interest rate and a convenient monthly repayment. This provides you with a better option to make a financial come back.

Types of debt consolidation loans

There are two types of debt consolidation loans namely secured and unsecured debt consolidation loans. In secured debt consolidation loans you have to pledge any of your valuables such as your house, car or any official documents collateral against the loan. The amount given varies depending on the equity of the property i.e. the difference obtained by deducting the debt obtained by keeping it as collateral with the market value of the property. The interest rates are as low as 9-12%. The repayment tenure also varies from 5 to 25 years. In the case of unsecured debt consolidation loans you don’t have to keep anything as collateral. Usually the interest rates in such unsecured debt consolidation loans are high with shorter repayment tenure.

Eligibility criteria

If you are a victim of bad credit history, CCJ’s, IVA’s and bankruptcy etc, you are not restricted to take up these debt consolidation loans. People with bad credit history are often given loan amounts with higher interest rates. If you repay the loan amount within the repayment tenure you can substantially increase your credit score. It normally takes 14 days for the loan providers to consolidate your debts and give you the amount.

So what are you waiting for? Get a debt consolidation loan and forget about knocking the doors of your lenders and start working for a strong financial comeback.
